Description
Dal romanzo "Il testamento di Honkakubo" di Yasushi Inoue (1907-91). 27 anni dopo la morte di Sen no Rikyu (1522-91), maestro del tè che ne elevò il rito a nobiltà d'arte, Honkakubo, uno dei suoi discepoli, cerca di scoprire le ragioni del suo suicidio e il nesso con le morti di altri maestri del tè che fecero harakiri: fu un'estrema protesta contro il potere e la rivendicazione radicale della libertà dell'artista. Esposto a tre livelli temporali (il 1618, il presente; la rievocazione del passato; il sogno a occhi aperti in cui Honkakubo dialoga col maestro), è un film di algida eleganza e di impervia comprensione per un occidentale con un sospetto di manierismo accademico.
